We began our journey back in 2020 where we developed a social app for the MiniTruckin community and released it on both iOS and Android and was formerly known as MiniTruck'n. We chose this name with a slight twist to give homage to our beloved magazine MiniTruckin which had stopped circulation. The direction of the app was to offer a place for us to communicate, share and thrive without all of the distractions and regulations you would find from other social networks. The app ran successfully for 2 years and we had a lot more planned, however unfortunately due to some personal circumstances we needed to shut it down. It's not what we wanted and never gave up with our dream to provide an app for the community where we can freely share our lifestyle with like minded enthusiasts.
Also during that time we had also built and have been maintaining another application Car Club which offers several features for car clubs such as member management, communication between the club as a whole and different chapters. This also includes a free website for your club where you can choose what content you want to share with the world.
Over the past year and a half we have been working hard with the time we had on redeveloping the application and bringing it back with more features and a better foundation to build upon.
In and around 2023 we were all blessed and welcomed the return of our beloved magazine MiniTruckin which I hope everyone has subscribed to since they are doing a fantastic job of bringing back the nostalgia of it with much better quality than it was before.
With that in mind and respecting their hard work we decided to rename the application so there is no confusion between the two. We had gone through several names and logo designs and had finalized on the name Body Drop'd.
Our initial release of the application will include some basic features listed below but they don't stop there. We have several ideas in mind for our community and we will slowly be listening to our users and releasing new features as time moves on. Our next phase will be integrating the features of our Car Club application since we find they are tied so closely together and once we do that we will be shutting it down.
Our goal is to keep the application open and honest and free of censorship. We believe in free speech and want to ensure everyone can express themselves freely. However there are some regulatory requirements we do need to follow and we will require to take action when necessary. We have included a feature where you can report stuff for us to review if you feel it's in violation. We also have a handy feature known as Hide that will simply hide that item and you'll never see it again just think out of sight out of mind.
Well simply put I'm a one man show. My name is David Mamber and I've been a developer for 30+ years now. I started my MiniTruckin journey back in 1992/3 in Tucson, Arizona after my family had moved there from Canada. I built many great friendships in this community and it helped me a lot with my initial transition from Canada to the US. I have been moving back and forth between the US (Arizona) and Canada for quite a few years now. I have owned a few custom rides throughout the years like a lowrider Nissan Hardbody, "MiniTruckin" inspired Honda DelSol and 99 Escalade SUV. Currently I own a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche and 1985 GMC Jimmy. I've been in a few car clubs over the years, some I started and others I've joined. Some were small and others were big well known names within our community. Right now I'm a proud member of Aftermath in their Eastern Canada chapter. However at the time of writing this article I'm going to be relocating back to Arizona (hopefully for the last time) in mid 2025 so please be patient with me.
I look forward to meeting you on the application and you can find me inside under the handle @minitruckn_dave. You can also find me on several other social network apps like Facebook, Instagram, X (twitter), LinkedIn and more...
